How to catch a Texas raccoon - You can attempt to do it yourself, but the most effective way to catch a raccoon is to have a professional do it; actually, it’s not just that it’s much more likely to be effective, it’s that most states require someone licensed to do the trapping. If you happen to have such a certificate, the best way to trap a raccoon is to lure it into a cage trap using its own young. This sounds cruel, but as long as you are sure to keep the babies protected from the weather and too much sun exposure, there is no reason for it to be considered inhumane. You’re lucky if you can find baby raccoons in the home while the mother is out. Sometimes the mother will refuse to leave the area because of her young, and then you can only snare her if you have a special pole snare. You can attempt to secure the cage trap to the exit hole on the building, intending to scare the raccoon out from inside and into the cage. When all else fails, you can set up a cage trap bolted to the roof or on the ground where you know the critter passes to get back to the home. Use marshmallows or bread as your bait. Using a meat product will only draw in other kinds of wildlife. Texas Critter Tip of the Month: Arlington coyotes are cannibals that are extremely curious and occasionally, they will want to dig and find more, however, where they do their activities is close to the human habitation and the question if the coyotes are a danger to the human, yes they are and real big danger. If they are threatened, they will act against the human and cause chaos and violence and thus most of the time, physical assault will be evident and therefore, you will have to be extremely cautious. Events of collisions There are so many factors that will bring the Texas coyotes to the human habitation and some of the reasons are very self-evident. Some of the causes that will bring the animals close to the humans are: - Food; occasionally, the coyotes will come to the human habitation as a result of them searching for food. Food forms the major attraction for the coyotes and if in your area there is a lot of it, then the coyote will be very pleased to pay you a visit and hence the cause for the conflict. - Shelter; if indeed your area is very bush with so many scattered shrubs, then this might form a very good habitat for the Arlington coyotes, also if your sheds or the porches are not well protected, then this might cause the coyotes to come and thus another cause of conflict. - Security; if also the area that you are in has premier security, then the coyote will surely pay you a very deep visit and that might be another sparking cause of provocation between you and the animal. Therefore, you really need to understand the cause, the major reason why the coyote is wandering in your home, then after analyzing the cause, you can now remove it immediately. This way the coyote will never have to come close to your habitation. Past Critter Tips: Does a Dead Animal Carcass Cause Flies? Are Coyotes Dangerous to Human Beings? Beaver Prevention Tips Some Customer Emails: Hello, I was wondering how much it would cost to do a rat removal - or if it's even possible to remove rats from the yard. We've been seeing rats run along our fence between us and our neighbor's yard. the main time we see them is late in the afternoon (5PM-7PM). about 6 months ago we found a rat's nest in an old water softener we had on the side of the yard and have removed it and purchased a new softener. We usually see the rats coming and going from our neighbor's yard, which isn't kept up very well and we suspect that being the problem. I'm not sure what can be done, but if there is anything that can be done since they aren't in our attic or house (as far as we know)..could you please give me an estimate of the cost? or what actions are taken? i have young kids and a cat/dog and don't really like the idea of traps or poison being around the yard. Do you know if orange county has any free services for this since this is in the yard and not inside my home? thank you, Holly David, I found your company web site and think you may be able to help. I have a raccoon that has taken up residence in my attic. Not only has it decided my attic makes a good home it has even taken it upon himself to do some home renovations by building a new exit for more convenient access (a hole in my roof). After covering the hole Monday it has since undone my work. What are your fees to catch a raccoon? It has been spotted by several neighbors in their yards during the past few days. I live in the area, and need Fort Worth wildlife control services. Cheers, Blaine To whom it may concern, I live in Fort Worth, TX. on Site Dr. We have had coyotes come into our track and take dogs and cats. Just last week a coyote had taken a cat from my neighborhood and ran off with it Northbound on Berry back into the brush (where they live) nestled against the backyards of many homes. One killed a neighbors dog on my lawn after taking it from their backyard. Another coyote ran past myself and my son on the hunt for a dog that was barking down the way. I have fear because I just got a rescue dog (she's small) and I take her out early in the am (still dark) to go to the bathroom and these coyotes seem to have no fear of us. Is there anything that can be done to remove them from our neighborhood? Thank You! Cyndi Hello, I live in Arlington Texas and I am having a problem with Raccoons coming into my house through my cat door. I was wondering if you have any recommendations or if the only option is to trap them? Regarding the traps I am worried that my cats will be trapped as well? Please let me know the best solution (other than taking out the cat door). Also, I would like to know the cost of your services for trapping Raccoons. Thanks! Hi Fort Worth wildlife removal, Thank you for your work and info on the internet. My house has been professionally rat proofed (with a lifetime guarantee) by a rat extermination company in Fort Worth Texas, and I have no rats inside. There are roof rats outside that are eating tree bark. They killed the fig trees last year by eating the bark. That was OK, I just do not want them to kill the 5 large water oak trees that shade my house (and could fall on it if damaged by rats). I live next to a wild area with lots of underbrush and that must be where they live. I cannot get rid of the rats outside and I need help protecting the large trees in my yard. I moved the mulch away from the trees. I stopped gardening. My yard is clean and pretty much rat proof but they come in and eat the tree bark on the large exposed roots and around the tree bases. If they were small trees, I could cover the bases but these are 5 very large trees with many roots. Your website said repellants don’t work but there must be something to keep them away. There are feral cats that live in the area but that has not helped. Do you have any suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Irene My response: Rats outside - that's a tough problem. You could wrap slick metal flashing around a section of the tree, and then they won't be able to climb. © 2004-2019 - Phone: 817-717-3606 - Fully Licensed and Insured in TX - Email: info@arlingtontxanimalcontrol.com |
